本动画片故事以单元剧为主，每一集都会讲述一个小刚和阿宝与小伙伴们在机灵镇上发生的有趣故事，例如，创造性地使用水泥搅拌机发射雪球进行一场“冬季竞赛”；给阿宝装上荧光标记装备去探索容易迷路的“水晶洞穴”等；《机灵宠物车》不但能让孩子们能够从中感受到欢乐和友情，更希望向孩子们传递“勇于尝试，敢于挑战”的精神。。
