舞台は西暦2087年。月に誕生した軍事政権による統一国家・ギガノス帝国が地球連合に対して一方的に独立を宣言し、宣戦を布告。戦火はスペースコロニーと地球本土に拡大し、月面のマスドライバーやメタルアーマー (MA) などの兵器によって、地上の7割はギガノスに占拠されていた。 そんな中、スペースコロニー「アルカード」の住人である主人公・ケーン・ワカバ、タップ・オセアノ、ライト・ニューマンの3人は、ひょんなことから新開発メタルアーマー・D兵器（ドラグナー）のパイロットとして登録されてしまい、追撃部隊を撃破する。こうして、彼らはギガノス帝国の追撃艦隊と戦いながら地球連合軍本部を目指すことになる。。In a sleepy southern town, the Larkin family suffers a terrible tragedy.
