北宋仁宗年间，汴河河畔有水怪出没，开封府受命后，第一时间派出带刀侍卫展昭追寻线索，而殿前司都虞侯邓车得知，不怀好意的将侄子邓六郎也插入了办案队伍。几人推断出这所谓的怪兽应该是机关所制成，在邓六郎的介绍下，一行人去往了当今最有名的机关大师“胜鲁班”的居所——乾坤宫，并偶遇年轻女子——公输灵。几人来到了地下鬼市，寻找制造机关傀儡的售卖商，并遇上了一个无脸人。打斗中公输灵认出无脸人是自己幼时叛出家门的亲生哥哥公输清。机关兽应该也是公输清炼制的。而他受到邓车指使，想要行刺皇上。关键时刻公输灵为展昭挡下致命一击，看着家妹逝去的公输清幡然醒悟，指证了邓车的所有罪行……。After a life of little scams, a self-centered millennial is sentenced to take care of his grandmother, who is affected by Alzheimer's.
