新世纪里，在农业现代化的北国江南白洋淀，却有一群以盼虎为首的痴迷老梆子戏的娃娃小姑娘，因为年龄小，家长望子成龙或是家境贫穷，所以难圆考取戏曲学校之梦。他们几经周折，费尽苦心，甚至有的离家出走才被县剧团收为学员。后因剧团演出被外地新潮野班子剧团冲击，所以剧团只得改为综合艺术团，而难舍梆子戏的孩子们也被解散。。With her widower father currently living it up in Paris with a young, new girlfriend, Lilian (Van Patten) has been placed into the care of family friends over in Brooklyn, New York.
