A quick glimpse at the cast for this film would make any horror fan giddy with glee. The actual movie doesn't live up to those high expectations, but it's far from being all bad. Desi Arnaz Jr. (!) plays an author who makes a crazy $20,000 bet with his publisher that he could write a great novel in only 24 hours. To do so, the publisher gives him the keys to an old abandoned ho...。故事的主人公是喜欢魔法的高中生黒羽快斗，他的父亲是在8年前因事故而死亡的大魔法师·黒羽盗一。某日，他在房间一栋隐秘门中发现传说中的怪盗基德的衣服，于是他打算会见基德。在那里，他遇到了父亲过去的同伴·寺井，并得知父亲就是怪盗基德，而且死因不是事故死而是他杀。于是，快斗为查出杀害父亲的犯人，而自己成为了基德。
本作和《名侦探柯南》有不少共通点。例如怪盗基德在两作中均有出现、迷之组织的登场、主人公真正身份不被世人所知，等等，感觉就像是融合了魔法元素的柯南。。
