Greece, in the 1920's, is occupied by the Turks. The country is in turmoil with entire villages uprooted. The site of the movie is a Greek village that conducts a passion play each year. The leading citizens of the town, under the auspices of the Patriarch, choose those that will play the parts in the Passion. A stuttering shepherd is chosen to play Jesus. The town butcher (who wanted to be Jesus) is chosen as Judas. The town prostitute is chosen as Mary Magdalene. The rest of the disciples are also chosen. As the movie unfolds, the Passion Play becomes a reality. A group of villagers, uprooted by the war and impoverished, arrive at the village led by their priest. The wealthier citizens of the town want nothing with these people and manipulate a massacre. In the context of the 1920's each of the characters plays out their biblical role in actuality.。1999年日本电影旬报第一名。
在证券公司辛苦打拼的韮崎紘（佐藤浩市 饰）与毕业于一流大学的大小姐瑞穗（齐藤由贵 饰）结婚，韮崎紘从小和母亲相依为命，从母亲那里得知父亲已逝。然而某天一个自称其父亲（山崎努 饰）的人出现在他面前，韮崎虽心存疑虑，但其父言之凿凿，家内之事一清二楚，于是引入家中居住。
但麻烦随之而来，父亲笹一终日酗酒，偷窥丈母娘洗澡。事业上的困境已使韮崎大为苦恼，父亲的恶行终于令父子俩决裂。韮崎将父亲赶出了房子。不久闻听丈夫归来的公代（富司纯子 饰）找到儿子，告诉了他一个隐藏多年的秘密……。故事发生在一个极普通的大院里。田玉敏（黄宏 饰）和妻子离婚后，独自一人带8岁的女儿妞妞（黄豆豆 饰）生活，每当女儿问到妈妈，田玉敏谎称妈妈出差去了国外，因为妞妞不知道父母已经离婚。为了女儿感觉到家庭的完整，田玉敏央求同事耿梅（江珊 饰）帮助，一时相安无事，不料一次电话露怯，妞妞识破了大人的诡计，田玉敏只好与耿梅假扮夫妻，从此笑料迭出。因政府规划，大院一片须搬迁，天井院里没有了往日的熙嚷，只剩下80岁孤老头李爷爷（朱旭 饰）和8岁的妞妞朝夕相伴……。
