三年前，一场登山坠崖事件发生。登山俱乐部会员Mike遇难，俱乐部女服务生因工作失误受到谴责而自杀。Mike女友半年后与人低调结婚。不久，年轻作家柳飞云以此为蓝本，创作一本悬疑小说，但出版后却毫无声息。
三年后，创作受阻的柳飞云，在经纪人李晓峰的鼓动下，参加了一个短期豪华旅行团。柳飞云、李晓峰、大书商卓然及妻子张惠、无业游民白秀清、旅居国外的建筑设计师段新宇、画家林泉及妻子林梅一起入住了山顶1号别墅。
