在一个平凡的小镇，在酒店底层工作的单身妈妈植村洋子（夏川結衣 饰）独自抚养着四个儿女：桃子、光生、美绪和花菜（芦田愛菜 饰）。最小的花菜顽皮可爱，是家中的开心果，不过她也常常觉得自己不受重视，受到委屈后便跑到隔壁的外公（小林稔侍 饰）、外婆（岩下志麻 饰）家里哭鼻子。不久，慈祥的外公去世，外婆的脸上时时挂着落寞的神情。花菜搬到隔壁居住，祖孙俩相依相守，从彼此的身上得到了幸福与快乐。时间倏忽而去，转眼花菜（北乃きい 饰）长大，小小的房子再也无法圈住她的脚步，而外婆则一如既往鼓励着她持续前行……
